Seriously, it has. After last weekend’s hectic rush, this weekend sauntered by slowly, and I really appreciated it, despite the fact that the van decided to die on Thursday.
Kate came up Friday night and Saturday morning we were off – first to Carter Hill to get cider donuts, apple cider and caramels. We also got fingerless pirate gloves for us and KJ. Yay! New fingerless gloves for work! Then off to see the new van we’re thinking about buying (went to Rochester for that) and then, dinner at Mom and Dad’s – grilled lamb with a hot corn and tomato salad and boiled new potatoes. All the veggies came from the CSA. And birthday cake for dessert! We also vegged out in the hot tub, which was heavenly.
Sunday started late, with another run to Carter Hill for more donuts. Then over to the landlords’ side for pumpkin-bacon pancakes with syrup and peaches. NOM. We made too many pancakes, so I have some for breakfast tomorrow. Then back to my house to clean the kitchen, make apple spice bread, Gram McFarland’s soda bread and egg salad for lunch for the week. I even got an hour nap in! It was awesome.
I need weekends like this every once in a while. It’s good to have a quiet weekend.
